Tiger Woods Withdraws from Hero World Challenge
Tiger Woods has announced that he won’t be competing in the upcoming Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas, a tournament he hosts annually. Sharing the news on social media, Woods didn’t provide specific reasons for his withdrawal but mentioned he is excited to continue his role as host and spend time with the event sponsor, Hero MotoCorp. He also revealed that Justin Thomas, Jason Day, and Nick Dunlap have received exemptions to play in the tournament.
The 15-time major champion, who turns 49 next month, underwent back surgery in September to address nerve pain and appears to still be recovering. The procedure, a microdecompression, was done just 10 weeks ago. Since his serious car accident in 2021, which nearly resulted in the loss of his right leg, Woods has been unable to compete regularly.
It’s uncertain if Woods will be ready for the PNC Championship in December, where he has played alongside his son, Charlie, every year since 2020. The family-friendly event allows players to use golf carts, which could make participation easier for Woods.

This year, Woods played in five tournaments but missed the cut in four of them. His best round was a score of 72, achieved three times. He made the cut at the Masters, finishing 60th, but withdrew from another event and failed to qualify for the final rounds of the PGA Championship, U.S. Open, and British Open.
