Rocco Repetto Taylor Claims Maiden HotelPlanner Tour Title at Challenge de Cadiz

Rising Spanish golf star Rocco Repetto Taylor thrilled the home crowd by clinching his first HotelPlanner Tour title with a one-shot victory at the Challenge de Cadiz. In only his second appearance on the Tour, the 22-year-old delivered a stunning final round performance to finish at 13 under par at Iberostar Real Golf Novo Sancti Petri.

Repetto Taylor carded a composed four-under-par 68 in the final round, edging out overnight leader Victor Pastor, who finished one shot back. Starting the final day two strokes behind, Repetto Taylor overcame early setbacks, including two bogeys and an eagle in his first three holes. A birdie on the 8th saw him make the turn at one under for the day.

After a bogey on the 10th, the young Spaniard surged ahead with four birdies on the back nine. A clutch 20-foot par putt on the 18th secured his victory and ignited celebrations among the local crowd.

“It hasn’t quite sunk in yet—it’s an unbelievable feeling,” said Repetto Taylor. “I just wanted to give myself a chance down the stretch and managed to hit some amazing shots. My putter really came alive on the back nine.”

Repetto Taylor, who lives just two hours from Cadiz, celebrated with friends, family, and his girlfriend—whom he reunited with after five months apart.

“Having them here made this even more special,” he said. “This win is a life-changer. I was focused on the Alps Tour this season, but now everything’s different. I’ve secured a spot in next week’s Swiss Challenge and beyond.”

The Spaniard entered the Challenge de Cadiz on a sponsor’s invite, but his win now guarantees him playing rights on the HotelPlanner Tour. He also leaps 203 places to 13th in the Road to Mallorca Rankings, a critical milestone in the race for European Tour status.

Northern Ireland’s Dermot McElroy and Sweden’s Hugo Townsend—son of Ryder Cup legend Peter Townsend—tied for third at 11 under par. Nick Carlson (USA) and Carlos Pigem (Spain) shared fifth at 10 under, while Quim Vidal, Robin Petersson, and David Law rounded out the top 10 at 9 under.

At the top of the Road to Mallorca Rankings, Daniel van Tonder maintains his lead after two early-season wins in South Africa. Renato Paratore of Italy trails by just 22 points, with Joshua Berry (England) and Quim Vidal (Spain) in close pursuit. Jamie Rutherford currently sits fifth.

The Road to Mallorca continues with the Swiss Challenge from June 5–8, 2025, at Golf Sempach in Switzerland.
