Dhaka, August 1, 2026: Major General Towhidul Ahmed emerged as the champion of the Generals’ Cup Golf Tournament 2026, held at the prestigious Kurmitola Golf Club (KGC) on Saturday, August 1. The tournament brought together senior military officers in a day of competitive golf and featured several special skill contests alongside the main championship. The event was held at Kurmitola Golf Club in Dhaka Cantonment.
Maj Gen Towhidul Ahmed secured the championship with a handicap of 24, recording a gross score of 43, net score of 31, and an overall score of -5, delivering the best performance of the tournament.
The Runner-up title went to Maj Gen Md Moazzem Hossain, who finished with a handicap of 24, a gross score of 45, net score of 33, and a total of -3.
The Best Gross award was claimed by Maj Gen Mahbubus Samad Chowdhury, who carded an impressive gross score of 44. The winner was determined through a back-count after a tie, with Maj Gen Mahbubus Samad Chowdhury prevailing over Maj Gen Ferdous H. Salim and Maj Gen Emdadul.
In the special competitions:
Nearest to the Pin (Hole No. 8): Maj Gen Mahbubur Rashid Chowdhury, with a shot finishing 15 feet from the pin.
Longest Drive (Hole No. 7): Maj Gen Hasan Uz Zaman, recording a drive of 240 yards.
Maximum Par: Maj Gen Ferdous Hasan Salim, achieving 3 pars.
The ladies’ putting contest also added excitement to the event. Mst. Rabea Khatun, wife of Maj Gen Mohammad Jahangir Alam, won the Ladies’ Putting Contest, while Shamima Didar Shipa, wife of Maj Gen Mohd Hossain Morshed (AG), finished as the Runner-up.
The Generals’ Cup once again highlighted the spirit of sportsmanship, camaraderie, and healthy competition among senior officers, reinforcing Kurmitola Golf Club’s reputation as one of Bangladesh’s premier golfing venues.
