South Africa’s Yurav Premlall delivered one of the most commanding performances in recent DP World Tour history, cruising to a sensational 14-shot victory at the 2026 Estrella Damm Catalunya Championship to claim his maiden title in extraordinary fashion.
The 22-year-old entered the final round holding a five-shot advantage after a brilliant third-round 63, a performance that also earned him the course record bonus. But what followed on Sunday was far beyond a routine closing display. It became a statement of arrival.
Premlall wasted no time asserting his authority, opening with a birdie before adding further gains at the third, fourth, and fifth to rapidly stretch his lead. By the turn, after a flawless front-nine exhibition featuring six birdies, the South African had established a remarkable 12-shot advantage over the chasing field.
As his momentum continued on the back nine with consecutive birdies at the 12th and 13th, Premlall’s lead swelled to 14 strokes, briefly bringing Tiger Woods’ long-standing DP World Tour record for the largest winning margin into conversation. Woods’ 15-shot triumph, set 26 years ago, suddenly looked within touching distance.
A lone bogey on the 14th ended realistic hopes of matching that historic mark, but Premlall’s response reflected the confidence of a player completely in control. A superb birdie from off the green at the 17th, followed by another closing birdie at the last, sealed a spectacular winning total of 28 under par, just one shot shy of equaling the record margin.
While the record itself remained intact, Premlall’s achievement was historic in its own right. His 14-shot victory established the largest winning margin ever recorded for a maiden title on the DP World Tour, confirming one of the most dominant breakthrough victories the circuit has witnessed.

Fellow South African Shaun Norris finished a distant second at 14 under par, underlining the sheer scale of Premlall’s dominance across the week.
The victory marks a transformational moment in the young South African’s career. Along with the winner’s cheque and course record prize, Premlall surged dramatically in the Race to Dubai Rankings, leaping from 157th to 26th.
An emotional Premlall described the triumph as the reward for months of struggle and rebuilding.
He said the past eight to nine months had been particularly challenging as he worked to position himself for opportunities like this, adding that finally seeing the hard work translate into victory was deeply rewarding.
The win also carried personal meaning, with Premlall dedicating the moment to his mother on Mother’s Day and thanking his father, family, and support team for standing by him throughout the journey.
For the DP World Tour, a new star may have just announced himself. For Yurav Premlall, this was not simply a first victory; it was a statement.
