Dhaka experienced a vibrant celebration of Spanish culture as the inaugural Spanish Gastronomy Festival unfolded at Edge Gallery, Gulshan 2 last year.
The event welcomed distinguished guests, partners, and culinary enthusiasts for an elegant gathering that highlighted the richness and creativity of Spain’s gastronomic heritage. Organized by Nupami BD in collaboration with the Embassy of Spain, the festival presented a curated exploration of Spanish cuisine – blending tradition and innovation while strengthening cultural dialogue between Spain and Bangladesh.
The presence of H.E. Mr. Gabriel Sistiaga Ochoa de Chinchetru, Ambassador of Spain to Bangladesh, underscored the deepening diplomatic and cultural connections fostered through such initiatives.
A defining highlight of the evening was the live culinary showcase by renowned Basque Chef Jes̼s I̱igo, whose return visit to Bangladesh captivated guests once again. Known for his inventive pintxos and contemporary approach rooted in the traditions of Navarra and the Basque Country, the chef delivered an engaging performance that combined authenticity, technique, and creativity. Guests sampled an exclusive selection of his signature creations Рeach dish reflecting precision, premium ingredients, and refined presentation.
Beyond the cuisine, the atmosphere was elevated by thoughtful décor, warm hospitality, and meaningful cultural exchange, creating an experience that resonated with both sophistication and conviviality.
The festival also reflected the spirit of collaboration between Spanish and Bangladeshi partners, with Porcelanosa Kitchens contributing to the culinary setup and enhancing the overall environment.
