Vidal Leads Challenge de Cádiz After Round Two

Spanish golfer Quim Vidal remains in front at the 2025 Challenge de Cádiz after shooting a three-under-par 69 in Friday’s second round at Iberostar Real Golf Novo Sancti Petri, taking his total to ten under par.

Vidal started the day with a one-shot lead following his opening round of 65 and retained that advantage with five birdies and two bogeys. He is one stroke ahead of France’s Oihan Guillamoundeguy, who is in solo second on nine under par.

Currently ranked sixth on the Road to Mallorca Rankings, the 25-year-old Spaniard is seeking his second Challenge Tour title of the season after winning the Delhi Challenge earlier this year.

“I played really nice, and I was very consistent,” said Vidal. “I didn’t make many mistakes, and it was great to finish with a birdie. My game feels very solid and I’m striking the ball very nicely.”

Vidal emphasized the importance of accuracy at the tight Novo Sancti Petri layout, especially in windy conditions.

“You have to keep the ball in play and also make up and downs whenever you miss the green,” he added.

Hoping to draw inspiration from the home crowd, Vidal aims to become only the second Spanish player to win the Challenge de Cádiz, after Pep Anglès in 2020.

“It would be amazing to win on home soil because we have such great support this week,” he said. “If I can keep playing like this, I’ll be near the top come Sunday.”

Spaniards Rocco Repetto Taylor and Mario Galiano Aguilar share third place at six under, with Victor Pastor and Joshua Grenville-Wood (UAE) close behind in fifth at five under.
