The 1st Old Buddies Golf Tournament 2026 held at Kurmitola Golf Club bringing country’s prominent fairway fighters together for a memorable day of camaraderie, nostalgia, and spirited competition.
Despite the hot, humid, and demanding weather conditions, the enthusiasm of the veteran golfers remained undiminished as they returned to the fairways for what felt as much like a reunion as a competitive tournament. The event celebrated not only the enduring love for golf but also the friendships and shared memories built over decades within the country’s golfing community.

At the heart of this initiative is the Old Buddies Group, a distinctive platform created to unite veteran golfers through the timeless values of fraternity, tradition, and tranquility. More than just a golfing circle, the group represents a community built around shared passion, mutual respect, and the joy of staying connected through the game.

The vision behind this initiative belongs to Brigadier General Abul Fazal Md. Sanaullah (Retd.), former Secretary General of the Bangladesh Golf Federation, whose long-standing contribution to the development of golf in Bangladesh continues through this meaningful platform. His concept aims to create a welcoming and engaging environment where senior golfers can continue to celebrate the sport while strengthening long-standing friendships.
The inaugural tournament also marked the beginning of a broader competitive calendar, with five dedicated tournaments planned under the Old Buddies banner to further engage Bangladesh’s veteran golfing community throughout the year.
More than a tournament, the occasion served as a tribute to the pioneers who helped shape the country’s golfing culture proving that while competitive years may evolve, passion for the game remains timeless.
