MIRI, MALAYSIA | July 16, 2026 — Bangladesh’s promising junior golfer Syed Mahdi Mahbeer (Shanto) continued his international golfing journey with an impressive performance at the 23rd Sarawak Premier Cup – Sarawak International Junior Golf Championship, held at Eastwood Valley Golf & Country Club in Miri, Sarawak, Malaysia, from 14–16 July 2026. The tournament is listed on the Malaysian Golf Association’s 2026 calendar and attracted leading junior talent from across the region.
Competing in his third international tournament, Shanto demonstrated composure and determination against a highly competitive field of 120 junior golfers representing 10 countries. Playing on the challenging layout of Eastwood Valley Golf & Country Club, renowned for its fast and undulating putting greens, the young Bangladeshi adapted well to unfamiliar conditions and gained invaluable competitive experience.
Shanto finished 5th in Group C, earning the 4th Runner-up Trophy—an encouraging result that reflects his steady progress on the international junior golf circuit.
Throughout the three-day championship, he showcased resilience, improving course management, and confidence under pressure while competing against some of Asia’s most talented young golfers. The experience of playing on an unfamiliar championship course and testing himself against international opposition is expected to contribute significantly to his long-term development.
His latest achievement also highlights the growing potential of Bangladesh’s emerging generation of junior golfers. As more young players gain exposure through international competition, performances such as Shanto’s provide optimism for the future of the country’s presence in regional and global golf.
With three international appearances already to his name, Syed Mahdi Mahbeer continues to build valuable experience and confidence, taking another important step in what promises to be a bright golfing journey.
