Mohammad Younus elected BPGA president, Sifat Ahmed as secretary general

 Mohammad Younus, chairman of Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC, has been elected president of the Bangladesh Professional Golfers’ Association (BPGA) for the 2026–2028 term, while Sifat Ahmed Chaudhuri, vice chairman of ABN Formulation and Trading Ltd., has been elected secretary general.

The BPGA Executive Committee election was held on June 26 at Kurmitola Golf Club in Dhaka Cantonment, with the Election Commission officially announcing the results on Saturday.

Dr. Afshan Anis was elected vice president, Md. Musa joint secretary, and Mohammad Nurul Kabir treasurer.

The newly elected executive committee members are Muhammad Nazrul Islam, Md. Shakhawat Hossain Shohel, Brig Gen GM Quamrul Islam (Retd.), Bashir Ahmed, Abul Kalam Azad, Md. Dulal Hossain, Sahid, Md. Ismail Hossain, Md. Sajib Ali and Nadim Hossan.

The Election Commission thanked the outgoing executive committee (2024–2026), the Election Appeal Committee, candidates, voters and members for their cooperation in ensuring what it described as a transparent, peaceful and successful election.

The newly elected committee pledged to work for the development of professional golf in Bangladesh, promote the welfare of professional golfers and strengthen the activities of the Bangladesh Professional Golfers’ Association during its 2026–2028 tenure.
