South Korea’s Jenny Shin captured the ISPS HANDA Women’s Scottish Open title after holding her nerve through a challenging final round at Dundonald Links, securing her first LPGA Tour victory in more than a decade.
Starting the day with a commanding lead, Shin battled difficult conditions and carded a three-over-par 75, overcoming three front-nine bogeys to finish at nine-under-par for the tournament. Her resilient performance was enough to finish two strokes ahead of fellow South Korean A-Lim Kim, who produced an impressive final-round 68. Thailand’s Pajaree Anannarukarn finished third at five under.
The victory marked Shin’s second LPGA Tour title and her first since the Volunteers of America Texas Shootout in 2016, ending a remarkable 10-year wait after 368 LPGA Tour starts.
An emotional Shin broke down in tears after holing the winning putt on the 18th green before being celebrated with water and champagne by friends and supporters.
“My first one didn’t really feel like a win at the time,” Shin said. “I didn’t feel like I deserved it. It felt very accidental. But this one definitely feels a lot different. This one feels like I earned it. I worked hard for it.”
The demanding Scottish conditions proved a stern test throughout the week, with only 10 players finishing under par after 72 holes.
England’s Charley Hull struggled to a closing 74 to finish on 10 over, while world No. 1 Nelly Korda signed for a final-round 69 to share 16th place on two over.
Korda said the ever-changing Scottish weather provided ideal preparation for the season’s final major, the AIG Women’s Open, which begins this week at Royal Lytham & St Annes in England.
“We experienced everything this week—sunshine, a little bit of warmth, and sideways rain, gusty winds,” Korda said. “So I’m just trying to get into the mindset for next week.”
Shin’s memorable victory not only ended one of the longest waits for an LPGA winner but also reaffirmed her resilience, proving that perseverance can eventually be rewarded at the highest level of professional golf.
