Foundation Stone Laid for Bangladesh’s First Floating Driving Range, Narail

The foundation stone of Bangladesh’s first and only floating driving range, the ARGC Floating Driving Range, has been laid at Arunima Resort Golf Club in Panipara, Narail.

The initiative marks a significant milestone for golf development in Bangladesh and is expected to contribute to the growth of golf tourism in the country.

The foundation stone-laying ceremony was attended by Khabir Uddin Ahmed, President of the Club Committee of Arunima Resort Club and Executive Member of the Bangladesh Golf Federation (BGF), as the chief guest.

Special guests included Touhida Sultana, Chairperson of the Welfare and Cultural Committee of Arunima Resort Golf Club Sub-Committee, and Imamul Hasan, Managing Director and CEO of SAMPAN Group. The event was chaired by Irfan Ahmed, Chief Executive Officer of Arunima Resort Golf Club.

Speaking on the occasion, Khabir Uddin Ahmed said Arunima Resort Golf Club has been working to expand golf across the country in line with the vision of Bangladesh Golf Federation President and Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman. He expressed optimism that providing golf training to underprivileged children would help produce internationally competitive golfers in the future and that many of the club’s young trainees could emerge as the next generation of golf stars.

Other speakers described the floating driving range as a unique addition to Bangladesh’s golf and tourism sectors. They noted that the facility would play an important role in promoting golf tourism, enhancing the country’s image internationally and attracting both local and foreign visitors.

The speakers also praised Arunima’s social initiatives, particularly its efforts to provide golf training opportunities for underprivileged children.

During the programme, financial assistance was provided to young golfers on behalf of Brigadier General Md Monirul Islam, a life member of Arunima Resort Golf Club, and club president Khabir Uddin Ahmed.

Among those present were club members and golfers Salauddin Yusuf, Mahbub Alam, Sirajus Salekin, and recent Leeds Cup champion Marshal Alam, alongside invited guests, journalists and officials of Arunima Resort Golf Club.

Once completed, the ARGC Floating Driving Range is expected to become a landmark golfing attraction and a pioneering facility within Bangladesh’s sporting landscape.
