EL Toro emerged as the champion of the third round of the Old Buddies Golf League 2026, which concluded at Jolshiri Golf Club in Dhaka after two days of competitive golf.
Colonel Rashed Humayun delivered the tournament’s standout individual performance, finishing with an impressive five-under-par round to earn the Best Player award.
Founded by Brigadier General Abul Fazal Md. Sanaullah (Retd.), former Secretary General of the Bangladesh Golf Federation and former Election Commissioner, the Old Buddies Golf League has become a unique platform that brings together pioneers and senior contributors to Bangladesh’s golfing community. The initiative celebrates the sport’s heritage while strengthening the bonds among those who have played a significant role in its development.
Designed exclusively for veteran golfers who have made notable contributions to the growth of golf in Bangladesh, the league follows an annual calendar comprising six tournaments, concluding in October. Sixteen teams, each consisting of six players, compete throughout the season in a league format.
Although the competition is keenly contested, the league places equal emphasis on camaraderie, tradition, and preserving the spirit of the game.
The season began with the opening tournament at Kurmitola Golf Club in May, where EL Toro claimed the title. The second round, held at Army Golf Club, Dhaka, in June under the theme “Nostalgia,” was won by Shadow Hunter. With its latest victory at Jolshiri Golf Club, EL Toro secured its second title of the season, reinforcing its position as one of the league’s strongest teams.
The Old Buddies Golf League continues to honour the legacy of Bangladesh’s golfing fraternity by providing a competitive yet fellowship-driven platform for the country’s veteran golfers.
