Bangladesh’s young prodigy Syed Mahdi Mahbeer Shanto has been crowned Champion of the Faldo Series Boys 11–12 categories at the Royal Colombo Golf Club, Sri Lanka, held from 06 to 08 January 2026. Over three intense competition days covering 27 holes, he delivered a clinical 10-under-par performance, sealing the title with a commanding margin. The nearest challenger, an Indian junior, finished at 3-under-par.
This win is not a routine trophy. It is the first time in history that a Bangladeshi junior golfer in the 11–12 age category has lifted a Faldo Series regional title and, in doing so, qualified for the prestigious Faldo Futures Grand Final at The Belfry, United Kingdom, 2026.
This regional triumph now opens the gateway for Shanto to compete on the world stage, positioning him among the future elite of junior golf globally. It is a KPI moment for Bangladesh golf development proof that structured junior pathways are no longer a dream, they are delivering outcomes.
There is also a legacy loop here. Back in 2015, another Bangladeshi junior golfer, Afnan, qualified from the Faldo Series Under-16 category in Nepal to play the Grand Final in China, a journey that eventually earned him a full golf academic scholarship in the United States. Shanto’s breakthrough now signals the next chapter in that tradition.
History respected. Future activated.
