The Bangladesh Golf Federation (BGF) held its 2025 executive committee elections on Saturday at Kurmitola Golf Club in the capital, in a festive and well-attended atmosphere.
The voting process was conducted under the supervision of an election commission formed by the National Sports Council. Councillors representing golf clubs from across the country cast their votes to elect the federation’s new leadership for the upcoming term. The official results were yet to be announced at the time of filing this report.
Following the election, the federation hosted a special Iftar gathering. Chief of Army Staff and BGF President Wakar-Uz-Zaman attended the programme as the chief guest and congratulated the newly elected committee members.
In his address, the Army Chief emphasised the need to popularise golf at the grassroots level and encouraged collective efforts to expand the sport’s reach nationwide. The Kurmitola premises were lively with club representatives, officials and invited guests from different parts of the country.
Founded in 1998, the federation serves as the governing body for golf clubs across Bangladesh. Its contribution to producing internationally recognised golfers such as Siddikur Rahman and Jamal Hossain is widely acknowledged. The federation has also been actively working to strengthen Bangladesh’s performance in the South Asian Games and other international tournaments.
The newly elected committee is expected to steer Bangladeshi golf forward and consolidate the country’s presence on the regional and global stage in the years ahead.
