Poosit Claims Maiden Asian Tour Victory with Clutch Birdie at Bharath Classic

Thailand’s Poosit Supupramai delivered a gritty and composed performance to clinch the inaugural Bharath Classic 2025 in Gujarat, sealing the win with a brilliant birdie on the par-four 18th. His closing three-under-par 69 brought him to an 18-under total, edging out Korea’s Wooyoung Cho by one stroke after Cho fired an impressive 65.

The US$500,000 tournament, held at Kensville Golf Resort near Ahmedabad and co-sanctioned by the new Indian Golf Premier League, showcased a tight contest among top contenders. Poosit began the final day tied for the lead with Jazz Janewattananond, who was hunting his eighth Asian Tour title. Despite a shaky start marked by two bogeys and a single birdie on the front nine, Poosit rebounded with a steely mindset and momentum, carding four birdies on the back nine, including the decisive strike on the final hole.

With this win, the 32-year-old makes a significant leap from 81st to 29th in the Asian Tour Order of Merit standings and earns a one-year Tour exemption. Reflecting on his breakthrough, Poosit expressed disbelief and gratitude, crediting a mindset shift and a recent putter adjustment that dramatically improved his performance.

Jazz, who had commanded much of the day, faltered with a final-round 72 and finished two shots behind. He later acknowledged missed opportunities and inconsistent ball-striking as the round slipped away from him. Cho, who had led earlier in the tournament, posted his best finish on Tour, demonstrating resilience and renewed confidence.

The Asian Tour now enters a one-week break before heading to the Middle East for the season-ending Saudi Open presented by PIF, a US$1 million finale at Dirab Golf & Country Club in Riyadh, where defending champion John Catlin will return to protect his title.
