The 3rd SARRGG Victory Day Cup Golf Tournament took place at Kurmitola Golf Club on 9th January 2026 in a vibrant and festive atmosphere, marking Victory Day through sport, solidarity and service.
The tournament was organized by four dedicated retired Army Medical Corps officers Maj Gen Shahidul Islam, Brig Gen Md Azizul Islam, Brig Gen Md Rahimgir and Brig Gen Md Rezaul Karim with the objective of honoring the martyrs of the Liberation War while strengthening fellowship among serving and retired Army medical and dental officers and their spouses.
A total of 84 golfers registered for the event, of whom 72 competed across the Veterans, Senior, Regular and Ladies categories. The highlight of the day came from the Veterans division where Brig Gen Md Abdus Shahid Khan emerged champion, leading the winners’ board with a confident performance.
In the Ladies category, Mrs Neela Aziz claimed the title, while Maj Sk Habibur Rahman topped the Senior group. The Regular category was won by Brig Gen Naser. The Best Gross trophy was secured by Brig Gen Rafiqul Islam. Among the side events, Brig Gen Md Azizul Islam won the Nearest to the Pin award and Brig Gen Jamal Pasha Chowdhury bagged the Longest Drive prize.
The program commenced in the morning with the release of colorful balloons, setting a ceremonial tone for the day. The prize-giving ceremony was held after Jumma prayers, where retired seniors, invited guests and organizers expressed their appreciation for the smooth organisation and meaningful purpose of the tournament.
The entire event was sponsored by Opsonin Pharmaceuticals and received wide coverage through TheGolfHouse Magazine, Channel 71 Television and Opsonin Pharmaceuticals’ media platforms, ensuring that the Victory Day message resonated well beyond the fairways.
