How did your journey with golf begin?
“I began playing golf in Bangladesh just under three years ago. After three months of coaching, I was encouraged by Brig Gen Manzur to join regular weekend games. Each game presents new challenges that test mental strength, adding to the unique appeal of golf.”

What motivates you to play golf?
“Golf is a lifetime sport suitable for all ages, offering great exercise with moderately intense physical activity. The walking, swinging, and continuous movement promote a healthier heart, stimulate the brain, and improve balance. Additionally, the game is mentally challenging and provides an excellent opportunity to build character and enhance mental well-being.”

Do you have a favorite golf course?
“Yes, Kurmitola Golf Club (KGC) in Bangladesh is my favorite. It’s where I started my golfing journey and played numerous tournaments. The course is beautifully laid out, offering sufficient challenges and stunning scenery, with regular tournaments enhancing its appeal.”

Can you share your most memorable golf experience?
“All my golf experiences, both in Bangladesh and abroad, have been memorable. The obstacles on the course force players to adapt their strategies and club selections. Balancing the fun aspects of the game with a high level of motivation is key to peak performance.”

Could you tell us about your involvement with Tiger Golf Club (TGC) and Dhaka Diplomatic Golf Association (DDGA)?
“The TGC and DDGA provided me with a community that played regularly at KGC on weekends. It was an excellent opportunity to meet and interact with diverse golfers, including diplomats, armed forces officers, businessmen, expatriates, and others. The DDGA also organized tournaments, including some in international destinations like Antalya (Turkey), Bali, and Nepal.”

What are your thoughts on golf in Bangladesh?
“Golf is a popular outdoor sport in Bangladesh, with numerous courses spread across the country. Developing golf tourism here could attract international tourists, offering them new and exciting destinations. Sports tourism, particularly golf tourism, can draw a diverse range of visitors.”

How would you describe tourism in India?
“India is renowned for its diverse tourist destinations, including wild and desert safaris, nature spots, adventure activities, spiritual and historical sites, and medical tourism. The varied geographical locations offer a wide array of experiences and activities for tourists.”

What is your impression of Bangladeshi hospitality and golf?
“Bangladeshi hospitality is deeply rooted in its culture and history, known for its generosity and helpfulness. This tradition of welcoming travelers continues today. Bangladesh is a fantastic country for golf, with beautiful courses that inspire and motivate players.Bridging Borders and Fairways

What life lesson would you share, and do you have a message for young people?
“One crucial life lesson is that nothing is permanent; change is the only constant. Patience and hard work eventually pay off. My message to young people is that they always have choices and the power to change situations. They should act upon the world rather than letting the world act upon them.”

How do you balance your professional duties with your passion for golf?
“Balancing professional duties with my passion for golf requires careful time management and prioritization. I often play early in the mornings or on weekends to ensure it doesn’t interfere with my professional responsibilities. Golf actually complements my work by providing a mental break and helping me stay focused and energized. The discipline and strategic thinking required in golf are also beneficial in my role as a Defence Adviser.”

What advice would you give to someone just starting out in golf?
“For someone just starting out in golf, my advice would be to stay patient and persistent. Golf is a challenging sport that requires practice and dedication. Don’t get discouraged by initial difficulties; instead, focus on enjoying the game and learning from each experience. Seek guidance from more experienced players or coaches, and remember that every round of golf offers a chance to improve and grow. Most importantly, have fun and appreciate the beauty and tranquility that the sport brings.”
