Breakthrough Win for Charmasson at Fontanals Golf Club

France’s Clement Charmasson captured his first HotelPlanner Tour title with a hard-fought one-shot victory at the Challenge de España, held at Fontanals Golf Club in Girona. The 26-year-old posted rounds of 65, 67, 66, and a final 69 to finish at 17-under-par, edging out Denmark’s Victor Sidal Svendsen.

Leading by one overnight, Charmasson extended his lead to four shots with five holes to play after a run of three birdies around the turn. However, bogeys on 14 and 15 allowed Svendsen to close the gap. Under pressure, Charmasson showed resilience, parring his way in to claim an emotional win in front of friends and family.

“When my ball landed on the green at 18, my dad screamed, and I just broke down,” Charmasson said. “To finally share this moment with them after so many years means everything.”

It was just his fifth start on the HotelPlanner Tour and his fourth since earning promotion from the Pro Golf Tour. The win lifts him 108 spots to 9th on the Road to Mallorca Rankings, while runner-up Svendsen climbs to 8th.

Spain’s Luis Masaveu and Scotland’s Euan Walker shared third place at 15-under, with German Anton Albers firing a tournament-low 61 on the final day to finish tied fifth.

The Tour returns May 22–25 with the Danish Golf Challenge at Bogense Golf Club.
