The Business Times Joins as Presenting Partner for 2026 Singapore Open

The Singapore Open will return in April 2026 with a significant new partnership, as The Business Times (BT), part of SPH Media, steps in as presenting partner for the first time. The move marks a notable milestone for the National Open, aligning one of Singapore’s leading financial publications with a flagship sporting event.

The tournament is scheduled to take place from 23 to 26 April 2026 at the acclaimed Sentosa Golf Club, with play set on the renowned Serapong Course. Widely regarded as one of Asia’s premier championship layouts, the venue continues to anchor the tournament’s global appeal.

Part of The International Series on the Asian Tour calendar, the Singapore Open remains a key platform for showcasing world-class golf while promoting Singapore’s sporting and business landscape to an international audience.

The partnership coincides with The Business Times’ 50th anniversary, reinforcing its ambition to extend its reach beyond domestic markets. Editor Chen Huifen described the collaboration as a natural alignment between two disciplines shaped by strategy and foresight, highlighting the publication’s long-standing commitment to excellence and its evolving global outlook.

With a prize purse of US$2 million, the Singapore Open stands as one of the region’s most prestigious tournaments. Japan’s Yosuke Asaji returns as defending champion after securing victory last year in a play-off against Korea’s Jeunghun Wang. The 2026 edition will mark the fourth event of the current Asian Tour season.

Asian Tour Commissioner and CEO Cho Minn Thant welcomed the partnership, noting its potential to expand the tournament’s reach through SPH Media’s extensive regional network. The collaboration is expected to enhance audience engagement across Southeast Asia while strengthening the event’s commercial and media footprint.

From a national perspective, Singapore Golf Association CEO Joshua Ho emphasised the importance of working with strong local partners. He noted that the partnership would deepen connections with the business community while elevating storytelling around players, competition, and the broader golf ecosystem.

The Singapore Open continues to grow in stature following its inclusion in The International Series last year. The series serves as a pathway to the LIV Golf League, with top performers earning playing opportunities on the global stage, an opportunity that benefited Asaji after his 2025 success.

In addition, the 2026 Singapore Open will form part of the Open Qualifying Series, offering two non-exempt players entry into The Open Championship.

The major championship will be held at Royal Birkdale Golf Club from 16 to 19 July 2026, further underlining the Singapore Open’s role as a gateway to the highest level of the game.

As the tournament approaches its 54th edition, the latest partnership signals a forward-looking chapter—one that blends golf, business, and media into a unified platform with regional and global resonance.
