Ten Years on the Tee: TheGolfHouse and a Nation’s Golf Journey

Ten years after founding TheGolfHouse, editor Nazrul Hosen Ayon looks back on a journey shaped by ambition, constraint, and steady resolve. What began as a modest initiative has grown into Bangladesh’s only consistently published golf magazine, charting the sport’s progress across military courses, emerging clubs, and international arenas. In this interview, Ayon reflects on the publication’s early struggles, the changing landscape of Bangladeshi golf, and the responsibilities that come with carrying the game’s narrative into a new decade.

In a market where consistency is a rare currency and publishing cycles are fragile by default, completing ten uninterrupted years is not a flex. It is a legacy move. As TheGolfHouse marks its 10th anniversary, we pause to reflect, recalibrate, and recommit, anchored in gratitude, guided by humility, and driven by purpose.

From day one, the mandate was simple; tell the real story of golf in Bangladesh. Not only the trophies and tee-offs, but the people behind the scenes, the discipline behind performance, and the potential that lives quietly between fairways. Over the last decade, this platform has matured into the country’s only regularly published monthly golf magazine, holding the line with credibility and consistency even when conditions were less than ideal.

To the Presidents of clubs, the Bangladesh Professional Golfers Association (BPGA), and our professional golfers, thank you for your patience. You saw our gaps, tolerated our missteps, and chose guidance over judgement. We acknowledge that we have made mistakes. We acknowledge that we were not always equipped to serve the game the way it deserved.

This milestone does not belong to an editorial desk alone. It belongs to an entire ecosystem. We extend our sincere appreciation to our mentors and advisers who stepped in when experience was limited and ambition was high. Your counsel shaped our strategic direction and saved us from many early-stage miscalculations. Our special thanks go to the President of the Bangladesh Golf Federation, the federation leadership, and every golf club across the country for standing beside TheGolfHouse throughout this journey. Your institutional trust provided access, legitimacy, and the confidence to scale our vision.

To the Presidents of clubs, the Bangladesh Professional Golfers Association (BPGA), and our professional golfers, thank you for choosing patience over pressure. You saw our gaps, tolerated our missteps, and offered guidance when we were still learning how to serve the game at a professional standard. We openly acknowledge that we were not always equipped to meet expectations. But every shortcoming became a lesson, and every correction helped us grow into a more accountable platform. The next decade is about intentional progress.

Ten years ago, TheGolfHouse magazine was a passion project. Today, it is a national golf media brand with a global footprint

We are committing to deeper engagement with professionals, structured visibility for junior golfers, and meaningful international collaboration. The future of Bangladeshi golf will not be built through tournaments alone. It will be built through exposure, education, and ecosystem thinking. Our focus now is to strengthen pathways for emerging talent, open doors for cross-border partnerships, and align our content with global benchmarks while staying rooted in local reality.

TheGolfHouse is not a closed club. It is a platform. Our pages, digital channels, and events are designed to represent the full spectrum of the sport, from military courses to remote regional fairways, from elite amateurs to juniors holding a club for the first time. We welcome opinion. We invite feedback. We value constructive critique. This is not a broadcast model; it is a two-way conversation that drives accountability and direction.

As Gen Z would say, we are building in public, keeping it authentic while staying boardroom-ready. We also recognise our sponsors, partners, volunteers, photographers, designers, writers, and field coordinators. You are the quiet operators who turned tight timelines into real deliverables. Your belief in the mission kept momentum alive when resources were limited and expectations were high. Ten years ago, TheGolfHouse was a passion project. Today, it stands as a national golf media brand and a platform with a growing global footprint. That transition did not happen by chance. It happened through leadership discipline, strategic alignment, and community trust.

We extend our sincere appreciation to our mentors and advisers who guided us when experience was limited and ambition was high

To every mentor, adviser, federation leader, club official, professional golfer, and supporter who walked this journey with us, thank you for the patience, tolerance, and teamwork. As we step into our next decade, we seek your continued support, counsel, and guidance to help us do more, do better, and serve the game with greater responsibility. The journey continues. The standard rises. The fairways ahead are legacy level.
