Seventeen Players Book Spots for 2025 AIG Women’s Open after a competitive Final Qualifying event at Pyle & Kenfig Golf Club in Wales. A total of 107 hopefuls teed it up over 18 holes, with exactly 17 finishing under par to earn a spot in the season’s final major, which will be staged at Royal Porthcawl from 31 July to 3 August.
Rookie sensation Anna Huang of Canada led the field with a superb four-under-par 67. The 16-year-old made a blistering start, going out in six-under 30 before dropping two shots on the back nine.
Ireland’s Anna Foster, in the very first group of the day at 6:45 a.m., capitalized on the calm morning conditions to post a three-under 68, a score later matched by Thailand’s Arpichaya Yubol.
In breezier afternoon conditions, Hira Naveed (Australia), Soo Bin Joo (Republic of Korea), Morgane Metraux (Switzerland) and Alessandra Fanali (Italy) impressed with rounds of two-under 69.
Ten players finished at one-under, including home favorite Lydia Hall, who will join compatriot Darcey Harry in the championship field. The group also featured Swedish amateur Meja Ortengren and 2020 Women’s Amateur champion Aline Krauter of Germany.

Key Quotes
Anna Huang (Canada):
“I’m delighted with my score. I stayed patient on the front nine and made a lot of putts. Links golf is new to me, but I’ve adjusted well. This will be my second major after playing in the US Open earlier this year, and I’ll try to bring more patience this time.”
Anna Foster (Ireland):
“The 4 a.m. alarm was tough, but I loved being in the first group with fresh greens and calm conditions. Playing early really helped. I was first reserve at last week’s Scottish Open, so I came here well-prepared. Having played the AIG Women’s Open in 2023 as an amateur, I now feel more confident.”
Lydia Hall (Wales):
“Being a local player brings pressure, so I’m happy to get through. My parents were out supporting me, which made it special. I used to play county matches here and Royal Porthcawl was my home course for years—it’s a dream to qualify.”
Meja Ortengren (a) (Sweden):
“I played solidly until a double bogey on 17. Still, getting into a major is a huge opportunity. It’s my first time in Wales, and I’m so excited. Seeing Maja Stark win the US Women’s Open this year was inspiring—she’s even coached us at amateur events.”
