English golf star Matt Fitzpatrick has officially confirmed his return to the Betfred British Masters, set to take place at The Belfry from August 20-24, 2025. The event, hosted by six-time Major winner Sir Nick Faldo, will serve as the final qualifying event for the European Ryder Cup team, adding major weight to this year’s edition.
Fitzpatrick, now 30, famously claimed his maiden DP World Tour victory at the British Masters in 2015, becoming the youngest player in the field to lift the trophy. This will mark his first appearance at the tournament since 2018, and his return adds significant star power to one of the Tour’s most storied events.
“I’m delighted to be playing in the Betfred British Masters this year,” said Fitzpatrick. “The Belfry is such an iconic venue with incredible history, and having Sir Nick as host makes it even more special. With Ryder Cup qualification on the line, there’s added motivation to perform well.”
Fitzpatrick’s career highlights include nine DP World Tour wins and a historic victory at the 2022 U.S. Open at Brookline, where he became the first Englishman since Justin Rose (2013) to win the championship.
This year’s British Masters will be the 22nd DP World Tour event held at The Belfry, a course steeped in Ryder Cup legacy. The Brabazon Course is expected to provide a rigorous test as players aim to earn a spot on Luke Donald’s European Ryder Cup team.
Alongside Fitzpatrick, the field features an impressive lineup, including Team Europe Captain Luke Donald, U.S. Vice Captain Brandt Snedeker, and defending champion Niklas Nørgaard.
With its rich heritage, dramatic stakes, and elite field, the 2025 Betfred British Masters promises to be a pivotal moment in the DP World Tour season and a thrilling precursor to Ryder Cup 2025.
