Marco Penge Wins 2025 Seve Ballesteros Award

Marco Penge has been named the 2025 recipient of the Seve Ballesteros Award after being voted Player of the Year by his fellow members of the DP World Tour. The award, which carries the name of Spanish great Seve Ballesteros, has been presented as a single honor since 2021, recognizing the standout performer of the season as chosen by his peers.

The Englishman’s breakthrough 2025 campaign featured three DP World Tour victories and a rise into the top 30 of the Official World Golf Ranking. He finished second on the Race to Dubai Rankings Delivered by DP World, emerging as the leading player among the ten who secured dual membership on the PGA TOUR for the 2026 season.

In only his second full season on tour, the 27-year-old claimed his maiden title at the Hainan Classic in April. He followed that success with victory at the Danish Golf Championship in August before lifting one of Europe’s most historic trophies at the Open de España presented by Madrid in October. That win secured his place in both The Masters and The Open in 2026.

Alongside his three triumphs, Penge added five further top-ten finishes and mounted a strong challenge for the Race to Dubai title. His rise marked a significant turnaround after narrowly retaining his tour card at the final counting event of 2024.

Penge said he felt honored to receive recognition from his fellow competitors. He reflected on the journey from fighting to keep his card to winning an award bearing Seve Ballesteros’ name within the space of a year, describing it as a moment of pride and motivation heading into the new season.

Javier Ballesteros praised Penge’s progression from the mini tours in southern Spain to multiple victories on the DP World Tour, calling his journey a testament to dedication and hard work. He added that the Ballesteros family were delighted to see him receive the award.

Guy Kinnings, Chief Executive of the DP World Tour, described Penge’s 2025 season as impressive and consistent. He highlighted the three victories and the significant climb in the world rankings, noting that the recognition from his peers reflected the respect he had earned throughout the campaign.
