Greene Holds Nerve to Clinch 71st ECP Brazil Open Title

Mason Greene delivered a statement performance to secure a two-stroke victory at the 71st ECP Brazil Open, launching his 2026 PGA TOUR Americas campaign in commanding fashion at the Rio Olympic Golf Course.

Starting the final round with a one-shot lead, the Tustin, California native set the tone early with five consecutive birdies, building momentum that carried him to a composed 4-under-par 67 on Sunday. The victory marks Greene’s first title on the PGA TOUR Americas and positions him as the early leader in the season-long race for Korn Ferry Tour cards.

Greene’s journey to this breakthrough has been anything but linear. A UCLA alumnus (2019–2024), he revealed that midway through his collegiate career he came close to stepping away from the game. On September 18, 2022, during a challenging period, Greene wrote a note to himself—

“Never give up on something you believe in”—a message that remains pinned on his phone as a constant reminder.

Reflecting on his victory, Greene described the moment as a significant milestone. He acknowledged the contrast between his lowest point in 2022 and this career-high achievement, while maintaining a grounded perspective on the road ahead. He also credited PGA TOUR Americas as a vital platform in his professional progression.

His rise has been rapid. Just two weeks’ prior, Greene earned his PGA TOUR Americas membership through Q School, navigating a high-pressure playoff to secure one of the final available cards. In only his debut start, he successfully converted consecutive leads into a decisive win—an early indication of both resilience and competitive maturity.

Brett Roberts of Coral Springs, Florida delivered a strong challenge with a bogey-free 66 to finish runner-up, marking his third top-five finish on the tour since the beginning of last season. Five players shared third place in a tightly contested leaderboard.

The tour now moves to Córdoba, Argentina, for the 94th Abierto del Centro Zurich presentado por Personal, scheduled from April 23–26, as the 2026 season continues to gather pace.
