Grant Forrest Claims Second DP World Tour Title

Scotland’s Grant Forrest produced a composed performance in challenging conditions to secure his second DP World Tour title with a commanding four-shot victory at the Nexo Championship.

The 32-year-old closed with an even-par 72 at Trump International Golf Links, finishing on eight-under-par for the week. It was his first win since lifting the Hero Open trophy at Fairmont St Andrews exactly four years and two days ago.

The victory moves Forrest to 28th on the Race to Dubai Rankings and into top spot on the Closing Swing Rankings with just the Danish Golf Championship remaining.

His week was further sweetened by a $10,000 prize for setting a new course record with a blistering 66 on Friday, and an additional $50,000 in NEXO Tokens, part of a special bonus initiative for this event.

Steady Under Pressure

Starting the final round with a three-shot advantage, Forrest stayed patient through the opening holes, trading pars with early challenger Todd Clements, who birdied the first to close the gap to two.

A wayward tee shot at the par-three third nearly cost him, but by the fourth hole, Forrest had stretched his lead to five. A near-eagle at the short par-four saw him climb to nine under, while Clements faltered with a triple bogey.

With Norway’s Kristoffer Reitan emerging as his closest rival at four under, Forrest extended his lead further with birdies at the seventh and tenth holes. From there, he controlled the pace, closing with a total of eight under, four shots clear of runner-up Joe Dean.

Dean signed off with a 71 to finish at four under, while Jacob Skov Olesen, Kristoffer Reitan, and John Parry shared third on three under. Only nine players finished under par for the week.

Forrest’s Reaction

“It’s amazing! I’m just speechless,” Forrest said. “To win again in the same week I won four years ago is incredible. It was tough out there today; I didn’t play my best, but I made some important par saves early on.

I’ve had a tough year and was right on the bubble in the rankings. It’s that old story, one week can turn things around, and this week it has. I didn’t even check the leaderboard until late in the round. Once I saw the gap, I just tried to play smart coming in.

Winning the Nexo course record prize is a fantastic bonus. It’s a great initiative and something new for the DP World Tour.”

With his season revitalized, Forrest now heads to Denmark in top form, looking to build on this momentum and push for further success in the closing stretch of the campaign.
