Tommy Fleetwood capped off a dream season with a stunning triumph at the inaugural DP World India Championship, clinching victory by two shots and sharing a heartfelt celebration on the green with his son, Frankie a moment he had long envisioned.
Having lifted his first PGA TOUR title at the Tour Championship in August and played a key role in Europe’s Ryder Cup glory at Bethpage Black, the Englishman continued his golden run at the Delhi Golf Club, closing with a brilliant 65 to secure his eighth DP World Tour win.
Fleetwood surged into contention with four consecutive birdies from the seventh hole before delivering long-range birdies on the 14th and 17th to seal the win at 22 under par. Japan’s Keita Nakajima, who led after the third round, finished runner-up at 20 under, while Shane Lowry, Alex Fitzpatrick, and Thriston Lawrence shared third at 18 under.
Reflecting on his victory, Fleetwood said,
“It’s been an amazing week. The fans here in Delhi have been incredible, and the hospitality has been outstanding. To win here, with my family watching, is something I’ll cherish forever.”
