Fisher Jnr Leads CIRCA Cape Town Open

Trevor Fisher Jnr moved a step closer to ending a decade-long title drought after delivering a composed, bogey-free third round at the CIRCA Cape Town Open, maintaining a one-shot lead at Royal Cape Golf Club.

The South African followed up his opening rounds with a second consecutive five-under-par 67 to reach 16 under for the tournament, keeping Spaniard Santiago Tarrio at bay in solo second. Fisher Jnr, whose last victory came at the Africa Open in 2015, now sits in prime position to add a long-awaited second DP World Tour title.

Starting with a slender overnight advantage, the 46-year-old strengthened his position early by holing a 30-foot birdie putt at the second, before picking up another shot at the seventh. The highlight of his round came at the par-four 12th, where he chipped in for eagle, before adding a closing birdie at the 16th to retain control of the leaderboard.

Reflecting on his position, Fisher Jnr admitted the familiarity of contention felt welcome. Calm and measured in his approach, he credited solid putting, effective course management, and the ability to save par under pressure as key factors. With wind forecast to increase for the final round, he emphasized the importance of smart shot selection and positioning.

Behind the leading pair, Spaniard Pablo Ereno sits third at 12 under par, while Finland’s Tapio Pulkkanen and England’s Will Enefer share fourth, a further stroke back. South African veteran Hennie Otto lies sixth at ten under, with a tightly packed chasing group close behind.

The final round begins on Sunday morning, with Fisher Jnr set to tee off alongside Tarrio at 11:52am, as he looks to convert momentum into a breakthrough win in the Mother City.
