Consistency Creates Legacy; Reflection on TheGolfHouse’s First 10 Years

For a decade, TheGolfHouse has grown from a bold idea into a respected platform shaping golf conversations in Bangladesh. Among the voices guiding its journey is Abdullah Zubair, advisor to TheGolfHouse and a firm believer in the power of passion-driven work. Though not a golfer himself, his unwavering confidence in the vision behind the magazine has remained constant. In this conversation, he speaks candidly about faith, resilience, growth, and the bright future he sees for TheGolfHouse on both national and global stages.

What initially sparked your interest in TheGolfHouse? Can you share the story behind your journey?
I want to acknowledge everyone associated with TheGolfHouse, both those who have found success and those who have been involved from the very beginning. The fruits of everyone’s hard work have come together to create today’s GolfHouse. It all started with Mr. Nazrul Hosen Ayon, someone I’ve come to know well and have spent considerable time with. During our conversations, he shared his vision for TheGolfHouse, and I was deeply impressed. His enthusiasm was infectious, and I found myself feeling very positive about the idea. While I may not be well-versed in golf having only seen it on TV and not being adept at the rules, my main draw comes from my respect for Mr. Ayon’s work. I have complete faith in him; if he commits to a project, it will surely succeed. I’m grateful for that and will support him as long as he needs me.

Do you believe that TheGolfHouse can make its mark on the international stage from Bangladesh? How do you see this happening?
Absolutely, I believe that TheGolfHouse is initiating a movement in Bangladesh. Just as it has taken root here, I envision it expanding into various parts of the world where golf enthusiasts and communities thrive. TheGolfHouse will continue to flourish in those places as well.

There can be many obstacles along the way, but you must believe in your ability to overcome them and succeed. I believe consistency is key, and it is closely tied to passion

How will it be possible?
The first thing I understand is that when someone loves their job, they will make an effort to know it well and remain dedicated, which we call consistency. There can be many obstacles along the way, but you must believe in your ability to overcome them and succeed. I believe consistency is key, and it is closely tied to passion. When passion is present, the quality of work improves, and as the quality increases, sustainability follows. Only then does life become truly captivating. When life is attractive, individuals can take the lead. I have witnessed numerous obstacles in various situations and have always encouraged others to face them. I’ve seen the courage in people to confront challenging times. We must never fear obstacles; instead, we will stay committed and do everything we can to move forward. We will strive for consistency, and I am confident that, Inshallah, we will succeed. Believe me. I have observed that Nazrul Hosen Ayon, the chief genie of TheGolfHouse, and those I know have never shied away from adversity. I understand that they have faced many challenges, but their resilience is commendable.

Where do you evaluate the 10-year path of TheGolfHouse is going?

I’m truly amazed at how quickly the past 10 years have flown by. When a child in our family grows up, parents often struggle to see them as anything other than their baby, even after several years. However, when relatives come from afar, like an uncle who hasn’t visited in years, it’s easy for them to notice how much a child has matured. For parents, their children seem perpetually young. This is how I feel about TheGolfHouse and Nazrul Hosen Ayon. Growth happens gradually, making it hard to notice over time. But when you step back and look from a distance, you can appreciate the different stages and journeys that have taken place. I’m truly astonished that it has been a decade already.

Over the next 5, 10, or even 20 years, TheGolfHouse will only grow stronger. I have a firm belief that work which starts slowly and steadily can evolve into something remarkable

Looking ahead, where do you envision The TheGolfHouse in the next 10 years?
I want to see it flourish and expand significantly. I have complete confidence that it will. The way TheGolfHouse has developed day by day shows that it understands how to adapt and gradually overcome challenges. This past decade feels like just the beginning for TheGolfHouse. It has a bright future ahead, and I believe it will continue to thrive even in the absence of Nazrul Hosen Ayon, moving forward with its dedicated team. Over the next 5, 10, or even 20 years, TheGolfHouse will only grow stronger. I have a firm belief that work which starts slowly and steadily can evolve into something remarkable. We’ve seen this in sports, especially in cricket, where a match may start slowly but can build up to scores of 400, 500, or even 700 runs over a few days. TheGolfHouse has begun its journey gradually, never losing momentum. I truly believe that in 5, 10, or 20 years, TheGolfHouse will continue to progress. Golf lovers from all around the world will come to recognize it. A country’s identity often hinges on its icons, and I see TheGolfHouse becoming such an icon for Bangladesh. People will recognize it as “the good GolfHouse of Bangladesh.” I do not doubt that it will achieve outstanding recognition and a stellar reputation.

A single representative cannot accomplish great things on their own; it takes a collective effort to truly elevate a project. TheGolfHouse is more than just an institution; it’s a magazine and a movement that thrives on community support

You mentioned that if Bangladesh could produce 100 golfers, the potential remittance would be significant. How can we achieve this?
It can be even more than that. Any endeavor starts slowly, but once it gains momentum, the growth can be substantial. The way TheGolfHouse operates, if we can address some minor issues, we could surpass 100 participants. As TheGolfHouse expands globally, it won’t just be about remittance; every country will come to know Bangladesh. The world will recognize Shakib Al Hasan and, through him, Bangladesh. This is achievable. Numerous countries still do not know Bangladesh by name, but they will associate TheGolfHouse with our nation.

Do you have a message for our partners?
A single representative cannot accomplish great things on their own; it takes a collective effort to truly elevate a project. TheGolfHouse is more than just an institution; it’s a magazine and a movement that thrives on community support. Together, many individuals have come to champion this cause through funding, providing scholarships, and encouraging participation. Everyone here, as well as those who have contributed in various ways, plays a vital role in this meaningful endeavor. I want to take a moment to acknowledge and appreciate the contributions of every member of TheGolfHouse. Your support, in any form, is valued, and I believe that those present today will continue to help us grow TheGolfHouse into something even more remarkable and beautiful. We have many more events lined up under TheGolfHouse brand, and I am confident that it will evolve into a major fixture in the future. If we are still here when that time comes, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all who have joined us on this journey.
