Connor Syme secured his maiden DP World Tour title with a composed two-shot victory over Joakim Lagergren at the 2025 KLM Open, held at The International in Amsterdam.
The 29-year-old Scot, playing in his 182nd DP World Tour start, led from the front on Sunday, holding off Lagergren in what became a near match-play battle between the final pairing. Syme’s steady final round and clutch putting earned him a long-awaited breakthrough and a spot in Scottish golf history alongside names like Colin Montgomerie and Ken Brown.
Opening the day two strokes ahead, Syme extended his advantage with a birdie on the second. Lagergren responded at the seventh, but an error at the ninth allowed Syme to regain control. Despite a lone bogey at the 14th—his first in 33 holes—Syme maintained his composure while Lagergren faltered late with dropped shots on 15 and 17.
Lagergren’s spectacular eagle finish on 18 brought him to nine under, but Syme coolly two-putted from 70 feet to finish at 11 under par and lift the trophy.
“It feels unbelievable. It’s been tough the last few days, but I felt ready,” said Syme. “Having Ryan (McGuigan) on the bag and the support from my whole team made the difference. I knew I could win—I just needed to prove it on this stage.”
The win makes Syme one of 12 first-time winners on the 2025 DP World Tour season, a testament to the rising talent graduating from the HotelPlanner Tour, where Syme had previous success.
South Africa’s Jayden Schaper finished third at four under, while Ewen Ferguson added excitement with a hole-in-one on the 7th route to a tie for third alongside Richie Ramsay, Jack Senior, and others at three under.
