Bangladesh Marks a Milestone with First-Ever R&A Level 2 Rules Seminar

In a landmark moment for golf in South Asia, the Bangladesh Golf Federation (BGF), in partnership with The R&A, hosted the country’s first-ever Level 2 Rules Seminar from November 7–8, 2025, at the Bangladesh Golf Academy.

The two-day program brought together 29 delegates, including 28 from Bangladesh and one from Nepal, for an intensive and immersive learning experience designed to enhance their understanding and practical application of the Rules of Golf. Conducted by certified instructors from the BGF, the seminar blended classroom sessions with on-course exercises, covering Rules 1 through 25 using official R&A materials. The participants engaged in interactive discussions, shared experiences, and participated in simulated role-play scenarios where they acted as referees in real-time situations.

These sessions not only tested their technical knowledge but also strengthened their decision-making under pressure, linking theory directly to live course conditions. The event was led by respected BGF officials Mr. Abidur Reza Khan and Mr. Faridul Mahmood, both Level 3 (TARs) qualified, and Mr. Mahmdur Rahman Chow, an R&A Level 3 Referee under the close supervision of The R&A’s Assistant Directors of Rules (Asia Pacific), Ms. Helina Meos and Mr. Jin Woo Kim, along with Brig Gen Sayeed Siddiqi, Secretary General of the BGF. The seminar’s success reflects a growing collaboration between The R&A and the Bangladesh Golf Federation to strengthen the foundation of golf across the region.

As golf continues to expand its reach in Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, and India, this milestone initiative stands as a model for future programs that aim to develop a new generation of well-trained referees and officials who will uphold the integrity, fairness, and spirit of the game throughout South East Asia.
