Angelo Que kicked off the new season of the Philippine Golf Tour (PGT) in dominant fashion, securing consecutive victories with contrasting styles.
Following his wire-to-wire triumph at Pradera Verde two weeks ago, the seasoned golfer showcased his resilience at the ICTSI Eagle Ridge Championship, staging a thrilling comeback to clinch the title. Que delivered a final-round 70 at the Faldo course on Thursday, overcoming a challenging start to edge out Guido van der Valk by two strokes.
With this feat, Que became the first player in PGT history to win both opening legs of a season.
“It feels amazing,” said Que, acknowledging the significance of his achievement. “At first, I didn’t think I could pull it off, especially after that tough opening round—a 77. But in the second round, I found my rhythm, made three crucial birdies, and suddenly, I was back in the fight.”
Que’s back-to-back birdies on No. 9 brought him level with van der Valk at two-under overall, setting up a gripping final stretch. However, instead of an intense shootout, the closing holes turned into a test of patience and strategy on a demanding course.
While van der Valk navigated a turbulent run of bogeys and birdies, Que took a steadier approach, opting for consistency over aggression. His disciplined play proved decisive, as van der Valk faltered with costly bogeys on Nos. 15 and 16, giving Que a clear path to victory.
Que carded a pair of 35s in his final round to finish with a four-day total of five-over 293, earning him the P360,000 top prize
