In 2027, the world’s best women golfers will have their turn to take on this historic venue in pursuit of the prestigious AIG Women’s Open trophy.

Mark Darbon, Chief Executive of The R&A, expressed his excitement, stating:
“The AIG Women’s Open is a truly global sporting event, and we are dedicated to providing the best players in the world with the finest stages on which to compete. Royal St George’s is one of the great links courses and will present a fantastic test for the field. We look forward to working with AIG to deliver a world-class Championship for fans on the south coast of England in two years’ time.”

Peter Zaffino, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of AIG, added:
“We are delighted that Royal St George’s will host the AIG Women’s Open for the first time in 2027. This decision reflects our shared commitment with The R&A to elevate women’s golf by staging the Championship at the world’s most iconic venues. Our AIG colleagues worldwide are proud to continue raising the profile of professional women’s golf as title sponsor.”

Founded in 1887 by Laidlaw Purves, Royal St George’s boasts a rich championship pedigree, having hosted numerous R&A events and international matches, including the Walker Cup, Curtis Cup, The Amateur Championship, and The Women’s Amateur Championship.

Before heading to Kent, the 2026 AIG Women’s Open will be contested at Royal Lytham & St Annes from 29 July to 2 August.

With the addition of Royal St George’s to its roster of elite venues, The R&A continues to strengthen its commitment to showcasing the AIG Women’s Open at the finest courses worldwide while furthering the growth and visibility of women’s golf.
