Prize Giving Ceremony of 3rd Western Group Professional Golf Open 2025 held at Kurmitola Golf Club today. The tournament was organized by the Bangladesh Professional Golfers’ Association (BPGA) and the sponsor of the tournament was Western Group.
The ceremony was inaugurated by Lt. Col. Mohammad Farid Uddin (Retd.), Bashir Ahmed, Managing Director of Western Group, attended as the Special Guest, while Major General Md Hasan Uz Zaman, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Secretary General of BPGA Md Mustafizur Rahman was also present along with other officials of Kurmitola Golf Club.
The 2 days’ tournament started with 71 professional golfers and 14 amateur golfers. After 2 days’ tournament, 47 players among 75 players got the opportunity to play on the final round.
After the tournament, everyone was eagerly waiting for the result. Shafiul Islam became the Champion in Amateur Category and Sajib Ahmed became the champion of Professional category while Liton Mia became the runner up of professional category.
Delivering the concluding speech of the program, Special Guest Bashir Ahmed influenced the industrialists and rich people of the country to sponsor in such tournament and encourage the armature golfers who dream to become pro golfers like Jamal Hossain and Siddiqur Rahman.
The tournament played a significant role to be the medium of collaboration between sponsors, organizers, and the golfing community for the development of golf in Bangladesh.
